Chevrolet Corvette Horizontal

One of the great design icons of the 1960s was Chevrolet’s “Split Window” Corvette. It debuted in late 1962 as a 1963 model, and with its all new chassis, suspension and European-inspired design, it was an immediate hit. The famed “split” rear window was the idea of GM design boss Bill Mitchell, which Corvette chief engineer Zora Arkus Duntov detested for it limited visibility. The following year the styling motif was removed, making the Split Window especially coveted today. This particular example is impeccably restored in its original silver with red interior, and has won numerous awards.
