About Winston

“One of the world’s luckiest people.”

Those six heady words describe how I feel every day.

I was born in California in 1958. My parents were similar to many in the Golden State at the time—they were passionate about cars. I grew up riding in (and later driving) a 1919 Jordan, a 1925 Willys Knight and a 1928 Ford Model A.
But it wasn’t until the mid-1970s and high school that the automotive world truly seduced me. Sports remained “it” until my junior year when I saw a 1966 Aston Martin DB6. Several months later after stepping outside the basketball gym I was mesmerized by a new Ferrari 365 Boxer parked close by. Weeks after that a Lamborghini Countach LP400 sealed the deal. I was hooked.
I graduated from the University of California with a Bachelor of Science degree in economics, and entered the financial services industry. After nearly a decade of mutual funds, insurance, and business and personal financial planning, I decided to chase my automotive passion. I have since become an award-winning writer and photographer, testing and photographing performance and luxury cars new and old, and interviewing their creators. In the process I discovered one of life’s great secrets:

“If you love what you do, very rarely is it work.”

Those decades of experience have led some of my friends to call me their “Car Shaman” or “Car Shrink,” and I’ve taken that passion, wisdom, and viewpoint, and adapted it to today’s world. My Instagram and Facebook feeds, as well as my blog, have become my primary outlets, and I very much appreciate the immediate feedback and perceptions I get from my followers.
And now, imagery from recent shoots and my extensive archive can be found in the storefront, where there are fun, cool collections of unique automotive and lifestyle products that stay true to my original passion. In other words, things that I use, wear, and are currently decorating the house!
So thank you for taking the time to visit this site. I hope you enjoy exploring my life’s story and work, for every day I still feel like I am one of the world’s luckiest people. Be sure to take a look at the storefront, and follow me on Facebook, Instagram, and on my blog, for I’m regularly posting!
