Bizzarrini A Technician Devoted to Racing - $125

I first met celebrated automotive engineer and constructor Giotto Bizzarrini in 1981, and this work contains insights from numerous interviews we did over the years, photos from his personal family archive, and much more. Subjects covered include his years at Ferrari and the creation of the legendary 250 GTO, why he left Maranello, working with Lamborghini, Iso, ATS and ASA, his company and the cars he made from 1965-1969 (Grifo 5300, Strada, GT America, P538, etc.), the AMX/3 adventure, and more! The text also has a number of never-heard-before atmospheric tales such as how racing a Ferrari 275 GTB with a Strada led to the sale of a car. Filled with period photos and contemporary color photography, this is a great inside look at the heady gran turismo days of the 1950ds and ’60s, from the perspective of a man who was at the center of much of it.

Ferrari Hypercars - $75

This landmark Ferrari book won multiple awards upon its release, including “Book of the Year” and “Best of Book Writing” in the International Automotive Media Competition. It’s an engrossing read that’s filled with numerous stories from those who lived the fabled Ferrari tale so the reader understands who they were, and why they did what they did at the time they did it. The historic photos were specifically chosen so one could see how the Ferrari factory grew in size and stature over the decades, and the models I photographed are amongst Ferrari’s rarest, and most desirable. In sum, “Ferrari Hypercars” is the culmination of many years befriending and interviewing key Ferrari people, and is filled with insights, stories and photos never before seen in print.

Ferrari Road & Racing - $49

This book will delight both the Ferrari aficionado and novice alike with its coverage of Ferrari’s history, and the sports & GT, endurance racing and F1 cars. Each chapter is filled with lush contemporary photography and/or historic imagery, and the text gives a concise overview of the model(s) development and unique features—often with “I was there” accounts from a variety of insiders such as famed coachbuilders Sergio Pininfarina and Sergio Scaglietti. A narrative runs through the chapters so once a section (or the book) is completed, you will have an excellent overall grasp of Ferrari’s history.  “When Winston writes something, I find it worth reading,” company vice-chairman Piero Ferrari noted in the Foreword. “But there is much more to his words and photos, for they…are his passion, and that may be what I appreciate most of all.”

ISORIVOLTA The Men The Machines- $80

The book that started my writing career, this 500+ page tome is the result of 200+ interviews over several years. It takes you behind the scenes with over 1,000 photographs (of which many were previously unpublished), and with the words and insights of those who lived the adventure. But there is much more than just focusing on Iso, for I purposely used an expansive approach by examining and explaining why events happened they way they did when they did, so one could then apply what happened at Iso to most every constructor. As Tom Tjaarda, the designer of the De Tomaso Pantera and a number of other exotics put it, “If you want to find out what it was really like to own an exotic car company, you have just found your text book.”

Italian Sports Cars - $59

This work is the culmination of hundreds of interviews with Italy’s Sports & GT car historic figures, and molds their insights into a strong narrative that takes you behind-the-scenes to learn who these people were, and why they did what they did when they did it. Complementing their stories is luscious contemporary color photography (a number of the shoots were done specifically for this book) and evocative period images and sales literature. “This book truly captures the atmosphere of Italy and its sports car industry,” is how Carlo Felice Bianchi Anderloni, the man behind Ferrari’s famed 166 Barchetta and Alfa’s Disco Volante, described the manuscript after proofreading it. “(The) words beautifully illuminate the trials and tribulations that myself and many of my colleagues experienced when designing, constructing and producing these exciting machines.”

Zagato-Leica Collectibles - $75

This book is the brainchild of third generation coachbuilder Andrea Zagato, and is one of the most interesting projects I’ve ever done. Zagato cars have a lengthy history in America, and Andrea wanted to celebrate that by portraying its diversity. This landscape photo book required a decade to complete, and shows 33 different Zagato cars in 33 different settings. From a Ferrari 250 GTZ on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, an Alfa 8C2300 in the cornfields of Wisconsin, to two Fiat 8Vs by home plate in Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona, you will see many aspects of America in rich color, with some very interesting Zagato cars! The book is signed by Andrea Zagato, his wife Marella Rivolta Zagato (who is also instrumental in the running of the company), and myself, and makes a great gift for the auto and non-auto enthusiast.
